ACRYLIC STUCCO
FOAM AND ACRYLIC STUCCO:
EFIS (Exterior Insulated Finish System) is a layer of foam ,synthetic
stucco basecoat, fiberglass mesh, and finally the acrylic stucco. The
foam is applied over the building using screws and plastic fasteners then
sanded with a rasp or power rasper. Once this process is complete the
synthetic stucco basecoat is applied and fiberglass is pressed in to
reinforce the base layer. after curing the completed, acrylic stucco is
applied to the wall and floated to give a beautiful finish.
CONVENTIONAL STUCCO
PAPER AND WIRE:
Paper and wire is applied over the exterior sheathing of the structure to
help keep moisture away from the exterior wall areas. All horizontal
overlaps should be more that 4 inches and vertical over 6 inches. Paper is
to be applied from bottom up keep moisture away from wall area.
SCRATCH OR GREY COAT:
Scratch or grey coat is a balanced mixture of sand, cement, lime or other
lime replacement additives, and water. This is the initial coat to cover all
paper and wired structures. Scratch coat is applied to cover the wire or
lath, and doubled back with a thinner scratch coat to such a thickness that
the combined thickness of scratch and brown coats will be approx. 3/4 inch.
Allow aprox. 1 week to cure before applying finish coat depending on
weather.
FINISH COAT:
The Finish Coat is the third and final coat. It covers cracks in the scratch
coat and completes the thickness, color and texture requirements to complete
the stucco process, however is the weaker coating and is for aesthetic
appeal. Acrylic finishes may offer more water resistance than
conventional finish coats. Acrylic stucco can also be applied over scratch
or grey coat to give a different look and feel.
